Cannot start GUI

Postby mrlndr » Mon Jul 28, 2014 11:12 pm

Hi, i just received my 3.2 LCD display (thanks!).

I followed the instructions as stated:

1. download and flash a Raspbian image to a SD card (allready had the last version on SD)
2. expand file system, do not select boot into graphical user interface in raspi-config
3. login as pi/raspberry and install our 3.12.20+ kernel with drivers:
wget http://www.hwlevel.com/hwlevel/Files/ke ... 20+.tar.gz
sudo tar -xzvf kernel_pi_3.12.20+.tar.gz -C /
#sudo nano /boot/config.txt
#scroll to the end of file and uncomment the line kernel=kernel_pi32.img
#CTRL+x
sudo reboot

The screen shows all the text and command line, but when i try to start the GUI it freezes, with the screen only with cursor waiting, i cut the process (CTRL C) and comes back to command line.

I try the tests like the youtube video in your profile and:

pi@raspberrypi ~ $ ./PI32
-bash: ./PI32: No such file or directory
pi@raspberrypi ~ $ conf2fbmap 1 1
-bash: conf2fbmap: command not found
pi@raspberrypi ~ $ conf2fbmap 1 0
-bash: conf2fbmap: command not found
pi@raspberrypi ~ $ ./startx
-bash: ./startx: No such file or directory

I know i´m missing a very simple step (maybe didn´t installed something else?).

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!
